The Cirque du Soleil, which translates
as ‘the circus of the sun’, is a modern
circus, using contortionists and street performance
as well as the more usual jugglers, clowns and trapeze
artists.
The circus uses techniques taken from the very roots
of circuses, as well as taking on board modern apparatus
and ideas. The Cirque du Soleil does not involve animals,
and places more emphasis upon the human being as performer.
The performances are usually based around a single
story line, and all of the performances work through
that story. |

Although based in Montreal, the Circus features a touring
group, who often visit places such as Orlando, New York
and other cities. As the circus recruits performers from
around the world, there are often very different. Each show
is a new development, and this can make them unpredictable
and always an adventure. This is one of the reasons why
the Cirque du Soleil has such a large following.

The circus has another show site at
Las Vegas, where it has several permanent shows running
on the strip, and there is also a regular show, La
Nouba, available at Disneyworld.
The show, which means is part of a French phrase
meaning ‘to party’. These shows are about
90 minutes long, with fantastic costumes and their
original music.
The ‘Circus of the Sun’ has a lot to
offer people through entertainment, and the show attracts
locals and tourists alike for every performance.
|
By using imagination and personal performance, instead
of using animals, La Nouba can attract both adults and young
children. Because the Circus has a tradition of bringing
in circus performers from around the world, children can
have the experience of many different traditions of circus
performances, and that alone can mean a lot to them.
