Here time shifts course, precariously backwards right into
the primordial time of dinosaurs. Carnivorous predators
notwithstanding, time travelers will also have to contend
with an impending catastrophe – no less than an extinction
event-scale meteor crash! Blasts from the past never looked
this wild.
Originally known as Countdown to Extinction,
Dinosaur is a popular thrill ride at the Animal Kingdom
in Walt Disney World, loosely based on the animated movie
of the same name.

To date, the attraction holds the distinction
of having the largest audio-animatronic figures ever created. Through this, persons are designated to
trek 65 million years back into the Cretaceous Period in
order to capture a living Iguanodon and return it to the
present. But in between, hostile dinosaurs and an approaching
meteor impact impede those ends. The ride stars dinosaurs
such as the Saltasaurus, Parasaurolophus, Alioramus, and
Styracosaurus.

The hush before the squall of the quest
transpires in The Dino Institute, a center for studies of
the primeval, staffed by students and scientists.
Supposedly,
it is a former secret research facility.
Past the queuing area, fossils, lab notes
and photos are dispersed all over.
The rotunda follows,
with large murals, fossils, dioramas and several different
multimedia shows promulgating the theory that a fiery asteroid
or a comet collided with the planet and obliterated all
known life forms then.

Into the Briefing Room, an elusive Dr.
Grant Seeker then convinces visitors to travel across time
to the end of the Cretaceous period to acquire the Iguanodon. A certain Dr. Marsh also releases the “Time Rover”
for guests to board – the vessel of choice to the
past.
Onboard the 12-passenger, all-terrain vehicle,
guests plunge into temporary darkness of the crossroads
of time and space from which they surface into a radiant
panorama of lush prehistoric forests and above all, scores
of dinosaurs. Do you love Dinousars - Buy Countdown

Then the sky lapses into darkness again.
When it does, meteors come descending, along with dinosaurs
gone berserk. In time for the guest’s good fate, seconds
before impact the Iguanodon hops for the ride back into
the future but slow enough for guests to feel that unmistakable
vacuum from the impact. Yet again, visitors rejoice in outwitting
total extinction.
