The longest, fastest rides in Disney history also happens
to climb, spiral and snake through the 150,000-square-foot
pavilion with a 50-degree banked curve that shuttles up
at 60 miles an hour.
About half of the track loops outside
the pavilion where maximum speeds are obtained.
And then
it’s a race up bumpy terrain and hair-pin turns speeding
past arctic cold chambers and desert heat. Well…hair-raising?
Test Track is one of Epcot's most popular
attractions. |

For lone riders, the Single
Riders line is a breeze entrance.
The exciting tension starts in the safety
"tests" demos using Crash Dummies.
A pre-show
follows in the holding area where an overview of the attraction
is shown on video.
That ‘hair-raising’ rite
sees its initiation in the next queue where everything starts
to move real fast, your heartbeat included: get in your
convertible, buckle up, the light turns green, the tires
squeal its first howl and head onto the race! |
After an uphill climb, the exciting ride
starts with “Tests.” The Suspension test takes
you to different road surfaces such as Belgian blocks and
cobblestones. Heavy discounont Epcot Test Track
Tickets. The brake test compares how the car reacts
to a sudden stop with and without anti-lock brakes.
When it’s twisting and turning time
as your car climbs higher, the real action begins. The warning
sign is up on wearing glasses as you pass the misty "Corrosion"
test. Here, the Environmental Chamber is simulated with
extreme heat and extreme cold.
You will know it – the big moment!
- when your car bursts through the wall onto the outside
track. With a maximum speed of 65 MPH running on the course
with steep banks…the thrill can explode.
That sure is exhilarating -- all that thrill,
perhaps in smiles and guffaws (but we doubt it) in between
your yells and bawls. But we like that you find out what
really transpired all along; you may want to purchase the
souvenir photo as you exit and see how naïve you can
get. You can purchase Epcot Test Trac tickets online.
While still catching for your dear breath,
the Driver's Technology Laboratories is waiting near the
exit for a few more activities to enjoy, especially a view
of GM's most recent cars. Test Track and GM merchandise
are also available.
Did we tell you that Test Track is not
necessarily fun? Oh, but there’s nothing quite like
it.
